On the Playing Field ~ SB3 ~ page 164

In basketball the goal is to get more points than the opposing team within 4 quarters. Each quarter lasts 6 minutes. Between the 1st and 2nd quarter there is a 2 minute break as well as between the 3rd and 4th quarters. Between the 2nd and 3rd quarter there is a 6 minute break. These are used to go over the teams strategies. Each team gets a total of 4 minutes in time outs. You can call a half time out of 30 seconds or a whole time out of 1 minute. Most often coaches use a half time out to save their time up. One of the main things is that you have to be good on both defense and offense. Defense is keeping the other team from scoring. You might block a shot, pass, or dribble. Offense is protecting the ball while it is on your side of the court. You may open up the lane so that another person can shoot or catch the rebound if they miss. You always want to keep the inside lane open so that another player can have the chance to shoot. Get good at passing, blocking, and shooting. Those are good fundamentals in the game.

Another strategy is to move quickly and not let your opponent be able to know where you are going to go next. If they can anticipate you, then they will be able to plan their moves accordingly.
