The Performing Arts ~ SB #4 ~ page 136
I participated in the Sidner Spectacular, an ice show put on by Blade & Edge. It was like a Christmas play on ice. We practiced for almost two months before performing.

Visual Arts ~ SB #6 ~ page 144
Using one of my sister's art books, I drew an egg. The book taught me how to create a smooth surface while also showing depth. This has a lot to do with light and shadow. It also suggested I put speckles on the egg to make it look more real. This deals with composition.

On the Playing Field ~ SB5 ~ page 164
For Basketball, my coach came up with a conditioning program. We did stretches and drills to help with our basketball skills and with our overall fitness. Some stretches we did were:
- Crunches - to improve strength in our abdomen
- Pull-ups - to strengthen our abdomen and our arms
- Wall sits - to strengthen our legs
- Bear crawl -to help strengthen our legs and arms
- Running (sprints, jogging, and horse laps) - to increase our stamina and strength in our legs
We did this program for half an hour after school three days a week for a month. Before we started, I was a slow runner and not in very good physical condition. During the program, I was very tired at first and wanted to give up and not do the exercises, then near the end, I started getting better at the program. In the end, I was stronger and felt like I could handle longer periods of exercising. I was also a faster runner and better at all of the stretches.

On the Court ~ SB4~ Pg 162
I was in volleyball. My coach taught me a lot. A hitter would be the person that makes sure the ball goes over the net. The setter puts the ball in the air after the first hit and sets it up for the next person to hit it over the net. Player rotation goes in a clockwise direction. If you were the server, you are now in the left back corner. If you were in the bottom left corner, you will go to the top left corner and so on. Every time the ball goes down on the other side of the court, if it's not out of bounds your team will get 1 point. If the ball goes out of bound on your side, and it was the other teams fault, then you will get to serve, but you will not get a point. If you knock the ball out of bounds, then it is now the other teams turn to serve the ball. You will rotate after both teams have gotten to serve. A bump, set, spike strategy would be when you bump the ball with your forearms, the setter sets it up for the spike, and the last person to touch the ball (preferably the tallest) spikes the ball over the net as hard as they can hopefully scoring a point for your team. I learned to bump and set the ball. When I got it over the net, it was with a very hard bump. I was not tall enough to spike the ball.

Women Through Time ~ CE #4 ~ page 146
I read about Elizabeth Blackwell. She was the first female doctor. Her parents didn't see her dream of becoming a doctor as a realistic idea and were not supportive of her. She was rejected by the medical schools she applied to. The school that finally accepted her did so believing it was a practical joke. School was hard because the teachers believed that women should stay at home and not pursue a career. At that time, it was believed that the female mind was inferior. Once she had graduated from medical school, very few people were willing to let her practice medicine on them simply because she was a female. The book did not say if she had any mentors.

The Performing Arts ~ SP #3 ~ page 136
I was a demon in a human video that I did with the youth group. We were trying to keep a girl from reaching Jesus and she broke free of the influence of the demons and came to know Him. We performed for our church and a fine arts competition.

Emergency Preparedness ~ CE5 ~ Pg 155
I read Hatchet. The book is about a boy who is stranded in the Canadian wilderness after his plane crashes. To survive, he had to keep a positive attitude and tell himself that he would survive. He also had to learn to hunt for his food and make a bow and arrow. He learned to make his own shelter and protect himself from animals larger than he.
