Mom showed us the news about the earthquake in Chile. She would also give us updates every day. At first we followed the initial earthquake and updates about that. Then we followed the tsunami as it headed through the Pacific Ocean. As more information became available, the prediction of where the tsunamis would hit changed. The were not traveling as fast as predicted and therefore did not cause as much damage as was originally thought. I think that having unfolding news stories as it was happening gave people warning and therefore saved many lives.
